A few chapters of my life...

I just finished reading Alvin James’s blog and liked the idea of listing down ‘events or memories that has a significant place in our heart/mind/brains/wadchagonnacallit’. So, ‘Our Own lil’ Project Continues’…

Before School days

I remember how I’d cry in the cradle because I saw no one when I woke up, how I’d cry when my parents won’t let me go to school with my sister and how I threw a Microgenius game controller at my cousin because he beat me in a boxing game.

Of course, I remember how I would always wait impatiently for my grandfather to come back from his weekly outings to his brother’s house or to the barber for some candy. You know… those ‘Ding Dang’ or ‘Tora’ where you can find some lousy chocolate with some cheap toys in a little box.

Kindergarten

I remember how we would tell each other who to ‘friend’ and not to ‘friend’. I remember the playhouse where I would become a family member that lives in the house. I remember how I would play in the sand pit and get some weird skin infection on my little finger. I remember how I fell asleep on one of those high playground thingies and fell off it like from 10 feet high above the ground.

I remember how I was beaten up by my dad because he thought was extorting RM 1 from a friend (but actually I didn’t force my friend. I politely asked him if I could have a piece of a one Ringgit note since I’ve never had one before).

I also remembered how I accidentally bumped into a friend of mine in a toilet (he forgot to lock the door) and he was squatting on the toilet seat for god knows what reason. I slammed the door and ran back to class. After he finished his business he walked straight to me and punched me in the gut! (He probably thought I had told the world about it already but I didn’t! …at least I think so…)

Of course, I remember how I had a crush on a girl and called her one day and hung up when someone answered. In the end I found out I got the wrong number.

Primary school

I remember how I cried like there was no tomorrow when my grandfather passed away.

I remember how we were able to make friends, best friends, enemies and pretend-to-friend-them-but-actually-not-so. I remember how I cried when my teacher scolded me until my face turned white just because I couldn’t draw a rambutan to look like one.

I remember how I would play basketball all alone on a Saturday morning under the hot sun and once witnessed rain pouring on one end of the court but on the other the sun was shining as bright as ever.

I remember how I went to my grandma’s house in Sibu during the holidays and my cousin burnt the hairs on my leg because he liked to play with fire. I remember how I had a crush on a girl and got rejected forever. I remember the time my dad bought me a Playstation and a pair of Nike shoes after I got my UPSR results.

Secondary School

I remember how I got into trouble due to some misunderstanding. I remember how I would come to school at 7 am although I was in the afternoon session just to throw some metal ball around. I remember paying for bowling games with packets and packets of 10cent coins.

I remember making Matrix Reformatted with a handy cam, a life-size dummy and a group of talented actors and directors! I remember staying up all night every night through out a five day camp. Thought of all sorts of things to entertain ourselves, from walkie talkies and torch lights to story telling and guitar playing. I remember James and I slept at the hockey field and he left me sleeping there cause he heard footsteps. I remember running away with Champton from people who threw grasshoppers at us. We hid under a tank for a few minutes.

I remember how we would waste time in the library and have lunch at a ‘pondan’ shop. Not forgetting the football games we play in school after some strategy talk in the library.

I remember going to Damai with friends and we’d play stupid card games until 4 in the morning. Not forgetting the barbecue we had at the beach. We were not allowed to barbecue at the beach so we find had to find a more isolated spot. In the end, the tide came up, the sky grew dark as rain came down. We hadn’t even barbecued a quarter of what we had. Eating with hands, blowing the charcoal to keep it burning, laughing and shouting, fighting over pieces of meat, and they said cavemen are extinct.
